Announcing the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Antonio Meza

The new year means new opportunities to revamp your interior design, and beautiful new examples of shutters in houses in San Antonio and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the winner for January 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of several places around the U.S. in which homes can benefit from Polywood shutters year-round. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of sunlight from entering the home. In Elk Grove as well as in San Antonio, that’s a good thing for any design-minded homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, making them great for homeowners who experience sweltering summers or frigid winters, or who just want to improve their home’s energy efficiency. That means a more comfortable home and money saved every month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-toned backgrounds such as her beige wall are becoming very popular, with contrasting instances of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–serving as points of interest throughout the space. Available in a range of white and off-white shades, plantation shutters can fill a nice role in contemporary interior design.

As our latest Share Your Shutters winner, Katie wins a $100 gift card to a local restaurant, in addition to having her plantation shutters featured with our past winners.
